Over the last year or so, we’ve been lucky enough to have won a couple of awards and accolades in the environmental and social enterprise space. It’s been great, a huge encouragement and a real boost for us.
But our aim is to actively engage the mainstream population in living sustainably, so being awarded the ‘#WOW Winner’ by Jacqueline Gold, founder and Chief Executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, last week put an even bigger smile of my face.
“An innovative company making it possible to sponsor people through action rather than money – great idea”, is how Jacqueline introduced us, latter reaffirming by adding “I love this innovative idea, I hope you do well”.
Winning support from fellow greenies who share our vision and values is perhaps not that surprising, but to have someone like Jacqueline back The DoNation so enthusiastically really shows it’s potential to grow and build traction beyond the usual environmental circles.
Let’s hope this is a sign of what’s to come in 2012…
The WOW (Woman on Wednesday) winner is announced weekly on twitter to recognise women in business. To enter, simply send a tweet to @Jacqueline_Gold including the #WOW hashtag between 1pm and 3pm on a Wednesday, outlining you and your business. She’ll then carefully consider each entrant on it’s merits and selects 3 winners to announce on Twitter.
Her selection takes into account businesses that have style, know their product and customers and has, what she thinks is, the potential to further grow. As one of the country’s most successful female entrepreneurs, she’s a pretty well placed judge!
