B Corps, Good Deeds Day, and Fairtrade ice cream!

Calling all B Corps – listen up!

Falling on April 2nd 2017, Good Deeds Day is a global day where people from 75 countries come together to do good deeds for the benefit of others and the planet. 1.5million people participated in 2016.

It is based on a simple idea that we like a lot: that everyone can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and change the world positively.

We see Good Deeds Day as a great opportunity to build sense of community within B Corps, by involving all your staff in ‘being the change’ in their own simple ways – through pledges on Do Nation.

So we’ve teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to offer a Fairtrade Ice Cream Party to the B Corp whose staff make – and keep – the most pledges! Now there’s an incentive if ever there was one.

Getting your organisation’s campaign set up takes five minutes, and it barely demands any time from your staff.

What’s more – if you sign up by Friday 31st March, we’ll add your B Corp to the B Corp hub page and leaderboard for free. Usually you’d have to be on Do Nation Pro for this, but we’re feeling generous.

Staff who want to take part simply chose one or more of our Do Actions to try, sharing their pledge on your campaign page. All the Do Actions are simple things like wasting less food, using video conferencing, or cycling to work. Small actions that together add up to make a big difference to the health of people and planet.

We take care of the follow up, information, and advice to make sure that their pledges have the best chance of turning into long term habits. We also work some clever magic with impact metrics, calculating the carbon saving of each and every pledge made.

So get cracking – create a campaign for your B Corp now.  Can you scoop the Ben & Jerry’s?!

Drop us a line if you would like more info.

The joyous small print:
  1. The Good Deeds Day competition is open to any Certified B Corps running campaigns on Do Nation during March and April 2017.
  2. The competition is based on pledges recorded on Do Nation between 21st February and 7th April 2017.
  3. We’re feeling generous – your organisation can either be subscribed to Do Nation Free or Do Nation Pro for the Good Deeds Day competition, so long as you sign up before 31st March. Those joining after will have to be on Do Nation Pro to join the B Corp hub page.  More info on pricing and features.
  4. Prizes kindly supplied by Ben & Jerry’s, who are offering a lot of fairtrade ice cream to the winning organisations.
  5. Prizes will be awarded to participating organisations on the following basis:
    • Initial prize: The organisation that records the most pledges per person between 1st March and 7th April 2017. That is, the total number of pledges divided by the total number of employees (as calculated through the number of users added to your programme through your Manage Users portal, or employees listed in your B Corp assessment).
This will be awarded on 10th April 2017.
    • Final prize: The organisation that completes the most pledges per person, based on pledges made between 1st March and 7th April 2017. This will be awarded on 7th June, by which time all users will have had a chance to confirm their pledge progress.
  1. We may create additional categories and prizes – for example, for specific sizes of company, depending on demand. If we do, we’ll notify participants.
